Album Release: Ben Panucci – Age Of Consequence
Celebrating taking centre stage as a solo artist, Sydney guitarist and producer Ben Panucci is set to release his debut album Age of Consequence independently on Friday 12 October with launch shows in Melbourne and Sydney during November. Written and produced by Ben himself, the album features previously released tracks ‘Come Over’ and the lush and quirky ‘Quite’ and now the album’s title track ‘Age of Consequence’. Recorded at Turning Studios and Pooch Sounds Studios in Sydney, the album was mixed by Kevin Kerr and mastered by Kelly Hibert.
As a songwriter and bandleader, Ben’s previous musical offerings include the critically acclaimed Jazz album ‘Short Stories’ as Ben Panucci Trio and, the debut self titled album of neo-soul outfit New Venusians. As a session musician and collaborator Ben has also worked with the likes of Ngaiire, Tuka, Paul Mac, and PON CHO amongst others, but now with the main focus on his own talents as a guitarist, singer-songwriter, and producer. Ben’s highly personal lyrics and intricate, yet uplifting production will be sure to catch ears on his debut solo release.
“Age Of Consequence has been the most challenging, personal and enjoyable musical body of work that I’ve made so far in my career. It reflects a change in gear, a look inside of myself and a refocus in my life both personally and musically. I hope it can be rewarding both to those that have the time to uncover all of the layers, as well as those that will listen to it in the periphery of modern app-leaden life.” – Ben Panucci
Playing music from an early age Ben Panucci studied classical piano until the age of 12 when his mum changed the course of his music career by gifting him with a second-hand guitar and a Jimi Hendrix VHS. From that point on, Ben was obsessed, and he began to study music at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music and, at the age of 15, Ben took his guitar teacher’s place in the Jazz Big Band on their tour of China and Japan, where they played with internationally renowned, trumpet virtuoso, James Morrison. In 2007 Ben began studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music completing his degree with honours, and as saying goes “the rest is history.”
Serving up carefully crafted, lyrically driven songs, you won’t be disappointed by Ben Panucci’s debut offering.
