Single Release: Melissa Ramsay – Halo
Melbourne-based artist Melissa Ramsay has just unveiled her ethereal debut single ‘Halo’ – produced and mixed by Hayden Jeffery (Woodes, Wolfjay).
Opening with subtle keys and hypnotic harmonies, the soul-infused track gently builds with its meticulous layering of intricately composed production, as the infectious and haunting melodies of Ramsay glide over effortlessly above. Gleaming with walls of synth, unwavering percussion and emotively-driven vocals, ‘Halo’ is a sophisticated slice of indie electronic-pop.
Ramsay describes the motivation behind ‘Halo’:
“’Halo’ is about entering your mid-twenties and reflecting on your wrong doings, bad decisions and striving to be a better person. It’s about feeling like you’re the worst person on earth and trying to convince yourself that you’re actually not; you’re just human like everyone else”.
Although ‘Halo’ is Ramsay’s first official release, the songstress has already been involved in a handful of collaborations with the likes of ARIA Award winning producer Feenixpawl, and Just A Gent on his track ‘Loaded’ that she also performed live at Splendour in the Grass Festival.
In the coming weeks Melissa Ramsay will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘Halo’.
