Single Release: Janey – Hurt Me Like Hell
Brother sister duo JANEY have released their new single and video, Hurts Me Like Hell.
While still encompassing their signature 80s synth-pop sound, the duo’s new downtempo track is almost ballad-like in feel. This song is about personal evolution and the exploration of unique ideologies that can underpin life and faith, and it journeys through the pain of hurting those closest to you when it’s time to pave your own path forward. Hurts Me Like Hell is the duo’s most personal release to date.
“The song was birthed from a moment of disconnect with a family member of ours,” tells Billy. “It’s incredible how much body language can tell so much about how a person feels about you, not to mention when you’re a hypersensitive melancholy artist.”
Initially penned by Sarah in her Bali home, the duo finished the demo in Billy’s studio in Maroubra, Sydney before taking it to Nashville-based producer, Luke O’Dea and later enlisting producer David Andrew (Gang of Youths, Jayesslee) before having it mixed by Ben Whincop (Panama, Stan Walker).
