The great man of Australian music  –  Michael Gudinski  –  has passed away suddenly at his home in Melbourne.  He was 68 years old.  Michael Solomon Gudinski was a true legend and icon of the Australian music industry and I am in shock, like everyone who knew him.  He founded Mushroom Records and built upon that with smaller labels and the Mushroom Music publishing and Frontier Touring Company.  I was in his company many times enjoying gigs over about twenty years and sharing many great experiences. He took the keenest interest in young singers and musicians.  We will all miss him.  Sincere condolences to his wife Sue, son Matt, daughter Kate and grandchildren.  Also to the wider Mushroom family as Michael showed great loyalty to his staff.

Here is the statement from Mushroom on 2 March 2021.
