Hope St Radio opens wine bar and new home
Pete Baxter and Jack Shaw are set to open the doors to Hope St Radio, a new wine bar and custom built home for the much loved radio station. Hope St Radio are opening their Collingwood Yards doors from April 29th, welcoming the local
community and visitors and breaking in the new space with
three nights of parties — all broadcast live via hopestradio.
community, with natural wine and cheap beer flowing
alongside tastes of the forthcoming menu.
The new Hope St Radio home and wine bar builds on its
community DNA, incorporating works by the pair’s friends
and families, lovingly brought together to create a uniquely
welcoming environment. The large, light-filled space has been
designed by Peter Cole, built by Spencer Byer Smith, with
mural art by Alice McIntosh and custom sound system by
Hot Wax Sound Systems. The food offering will be led by Ellie
Bouhadana, serving a seasonal menu focused on fresh pasta.
In June the menu will expand to include a breakfast of congee
and filter coffee. Baxter, Shaw and Bouhadana will draw on
their network of suppliers, producers and creative peers to
deliver delicious and thoughtful food and drinks.
Pete Baxter said “We see relationships as the core ingredient
in both music and cooking. It is the energy given to the
produce, craft or the people enjoying it. We’re looking
forward to being surrounded by this welcoming and inspiring
community – and hopefully a little of that magic will make its
way into every song/bowl of pasta.”
Hope St Radio are the first hospitality tenants to open at
Collingwood Yards. The new premises sit at its heart, adjoining
the large central courtyard. Expansive outdoor communal
tables set the scene for long lunches, late night wines and
shared conversations while timber booths provide cosy indoor
spaces for coffee meetings, intimate meals and casual snacks.
Jack Shaw said “We are so excited to swing the doors open on
opening weekend to break the space in. A lot of blood, sweat
and tears from a wonderful group of friends have gone into
building our beautiful new home and we can’t wait to share a
wine with everyone.”
