:: TV Week Logie Awards 2007

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

You will remember the euphoria when long-time Gold Logie candidate John Wood had Australia cheering when he finally took out the TV WEEK Gold Logie, in his 10th consecutive year of being nominated.
Who will the nation get behind in 2007?
Three-time winner Rove McManus – who, tragically, won’t have his wife Belinda Emmett by his side this year? Or Kate Ritchie, who left Home And Away viewers distraught over the summer, thinking her character had been killed off? Or has cheeky Nine Network personality Jules Lund managed to skate his way into the public’s hearts?

Voting for the 11 Most Popular categories in the 2007 TV WEEK Logie Awards has begun. People can vote for their favourite show or star, via either a coupon in TV WEEK or online
Voting finishes on February 23, 2007.

The final nominees in each of the categories – as well as those in the 11 industry-voted Most Outstanding categories – will be announced on Monday, April 2.
It’s then that the Race For Gold will begin for a second year. Once again, there will be eight contenders for the TV WEEK Gold Logie. The public will be able to vote for their choice of the eight nominees via SMS or a 1900 number right up until Logies night.

The 2007 TV WEEK Logie Awards will be held on Sunday, May 6, at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne and televised on the Nine Network.

**Update as at March 23, 2007 - More announcements**

TV WEEK and the Nine Network have announced that talented radio duo, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee will host the green room at this year’s Logies. The infamous green room has become a major part of the TV WEEK Logies broadcast, ever since Adam Hills commenced the hosting role in 2005. Here, backstage interviews with the stars provide many of the telecast’s funniest and most revealing moments.

Hamish and Andy confirmed they were looking forward to their role as green-room hosts this year. “We’re excited at the opportunity and guarantee to do at least 30% of the job that Adam Hills did,” the boys said.

UK musician James Morrison is a special guest at this year's awards. He has been touted as UK music’s most expressive new voice thanks to his breakthrough single “You Give Me Something”. The single has sold over 1.5million copies worldwide and his debut album Undiscovered rocketed to #1 on the UK charts and is Top 20 in 16 markets. More recently, James won the prestigious Brit Award for Male Solo Artist. James will be performing his new single “Undiscovered” at the TV WEEK Logies on the eve of his first concert tour of Australia in May.
