:: Spotlight :: Modern Citizen Brings Vintage Inspiration

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Award-winning designer Sarah Doblo is reworking vintage into the modern woman’s wardrobe with the launch of online clothing store, Citizen Collective. Launched in April 2014, Citizen Collective is inspired by world travels, stylish friends and wanting to live a beautiful life and focus extends beyond the rack to be a lifestyle label, providing on trend items for the fashionable 30’s.

Brisbane-based Sarah said most 30+ year-olds are time poor, juggling careers, families, friends and don’t always have the time to hunt around thrift stores, markets or shopping centres looking for desirable items. “Citizen Collective was born out of not being able to find what I was looking for,” she confesses. “The clothing options available were too short, too cookie cutter, too young or old, or just too beige. The market is flooded with stores for 18-26 year-olds, but there are limited options for the collective 30+. In this age group myself, I like to have fun with my outfits and change my style daily depending on my mood. Speaking to friends, I frequently hear the same feedback.”

Citizen Collective is passionate about offering customers a well edited collection of quality, ready-to-wear items that stay in-touch with current fashion trends, allowing customers to purchase in a sustainable way, whilst also giving their wardrobe a dash of creative rebellion.

The collection features worldly wares sourced from Sarah’s travels, bespoke items designed by Sarah and eclectic, timeless vintage pieces. Sarah said as a brand Citizen Collective was free-spirited, starting small, but dreaming big and bold. “Our plans for the future include expanding into vintage menswear and to create a marketplace of new up and coming designers from around the world in both fashion and lifestyle categories,” she said.
