:: Spotlight :: Colours Of Spring Lunch

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

A charity fashion show, “Colours Of Spring”, will be staged at the Sawasdee Restaurant on Saturday, October 27 from 12.00pm to 3.00pm. It is presented by Alive Global Entertainment.

From the very heart of Melbourne’s Chinatown, comes an event ushering in the season of spring. Organised by Alive Global Entertainment, the event aims to feature fashion designer collections as well as new and upcoming music talent. Placed in an Asian setting located in an up market Thai restaurant, Sawasdee, the event theme “Colours of Spring” aims to bring two fashion shows featuring women’s wear and men’s wear carefully picked for the upcoming Spring Racing Carnival. It is also the time of the year to contribute for a most worthy cause. Alive Global Entertainment will donate a percentage of the event’s profits to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to fund their research.

Fashion designers, Zenzerro - a former designer for Alannah Hill, Sulu Fashion formal wear and up-and-coming designer Maly Bayn, will hit the fashion catwalk bringing to live their Spring/Summer Collection 2008.

As this event is a charity event, Maly Bayn has decided to design three outfits in pink, bearing the official colour of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. “I am delighted to put to use my creativity in designing and at the same time raise awareness for the charity,” says Maly. She continues, “Like many others, my family has a history of breast cancer. My aunt passed away from it, my grandma and my mother-in-law survived it and a close family friend was just diagnosed with it. So, it is a personal journey for me and a journey very close to my heart.” The three cocktail type dresses will be up for auction during the event and all proceeds from the dresses will be given to charity.

Sawasdee Restaurant is at 139 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne 3000
