This year‘s David Jones Winter Collection 2007 took a turn for the Irish. With its 'face’, Megan Gale shooting the catalogue in a “Streets of Dublin” theme, guests were invited to the Melbourne Town Hall in an artistic look with a terrific designer and guest list to check out the interesting range of designs.

All eyes were on Megan Gale as she continued her great association with David Jones and, although she didn't wear many garments, she stole the show at the end in a delightful black and white Alex Perry design. The Sydney designer celebrated joining the “David Jones family” with a stunning array of clothes.

I spoke to Alex about his first range for David Jones and he was extremely pleased. He had worked with Myer previously but, after his growing international work in high-profile Asian stores, he thought David Jones was a good fit for him at this stage. He was happy to be associated again with Megan Gale who he acknowledged was most suitable to wear his gowns.

Other designers on show included sass & bide, Zimmermann, Collette Dinnigan, Morrissey, Sabatini, Mimco, and Alannah Hill. There was a great mix of emerging and established Australian designers.

David Jones will present its 'Streets of Dublin’ parades across the country in the lead-up to Easter.
