David Jones, the home of Australia‘s leading designers, launched its Spring Summer 2009 Season at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney recently. Under the theme of “A Great Southern Summer”, Australian born, internationally based model Miranda Kerr returned to lead the runway as David Jones’ Fashion Ambassador for the Spring Summer season in a morning gathering.

Amongst the great designers on show were Akira, Alex Perry, Alannah Hill, AG by Arthur Galan, Calibre, Collette Dinnigan, Fleur Wood, George Gross, Ginger & Smart, Harry Who, Jets, Lisa Ho, Sass & Bide, Scanlan & Theodore, Thurley, Willow and Zimmermann.

Thurley opened the show with its captivating designs setting the sultry summer mood and Calibre had the coveted finale spot. It was an overdue sense of recognition for Calibre. The great menswear label is celebrating twenty years in business and it is a great credit to the label's founder Gary Zecevic and his colleagues.

With the styling, Kelvin Harries focused on a mix of bold and bright colour, fabrics and texture with more than 160 outfit changes by 47 models. Darren Borthwick's creative influence with hair saw a mix of sleek and summery creations on the runway.

Here are pictures from the show.
