:: Spotlight :: David Jones Autumn Winter 2017 Collection Launch in Sydney

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

David Jones recently celebrated the launch of their Autumn Winter 2017 (AW17) season with international supermodel Karlie Kloss starring in the much anticipated show. Set against the striking backdrop of iconic Sydney landmark St Mary’s Cathedral, guests were seated in a clear roof structure highlighting the majestic location in and amongst the seasonal elements. Kloss led the stellar line up of international and Australian models showcasing the best of the new season from David Jones’ stable of exclusive designers.

Upon arrival, guests enjoyed Bollinger champagne as performers took to the prominent water features in the St Mary’s Cathedral precinct for pre-show entertainment. Drawing from the AW17 campaign which captures the rapid and dramatic shifts of the seasons in Australia, the remarkable set also brought to life seasonal aspects such as wind and rain.

A highlight of the evening was the closing segment which showcased David Jones’ range of bridal gowns for the first time ever on the Collections Launch runway. The new season at David Jones amplifies the endless possibilities of the infinitely adaptable, ever changing weather. No matter the season and whatever the weather, Daid Jones’ versatile range of fashion gives you endless possibilities to confidently style yourself and your life.

The dramatic closing segment saw bridal showcased on the Collections Launch runway for the first time. Make-up:
Napoleon Perdis created three key looks for the AutumnWinter runway with an emphasis on your essential beauty accessory for this winter - a smokey eye. Just like the Australian winter has different intensities, from icy cool mornings to warm, sunny afternoons – so can a smokey eye. The three
bespoke looks created for the show featured a range of cool and warm eye shadow tones in varying intensities. Skin is fresh and toned with the smokey eyes teamed with nude cheeks and lips to suit your skin tone.

Hair:
Partnering again with Aveda & led by Terri Robertson-Kirkwood Aveda’s Creative Director for David Jones, a custom look was created for the runway. The Autumn Winter runway celebrated strong beauty and individualism by fusing infiniteness with fashion. “The hair reflected this theme and was all about breaking barriers and not being defined by trends, which we are seeing on both the international and couture runways”, said Aveda’s Creative Director for David Jones, Terri Robertson-Kirkwood. “The look embraced a bold, independent woman who is still fluid and beautiful. The texture is slick and shiny on the crown moving to a more natural loose texture and is a nod to the strong and impressive styles showcased on the runway this season”.
