The Starlight Children’s Foundation is a shining light for those shadowed by unexpected, unavoidable darkness. Recently, the organisation held an exclusive fashion event showcasing five of Australia’s most innovative designers in the Ballroom of Sydney’s elegant Hilton Hotel.

Reputable designers participating on the night included Wayne Cooper, Lisa Ho, Samantha Wills, Anna & Boy and Theodora & Martha.

The combination of elaborate accessories, cocktail dresses, swimwear and corporate chic styles ensured all eyes were fixed on the catwalk for the duration of the show. Gorgeous television presenter and actress, Yvette Duncan hosted the event and emphasised the importance of Starlight in the lives of those less fortunate.

The night was filled with entertainment, laughter along with many salutes as Captain Starlight bounced around the venue ensuring not a frown was in sight. Kate Waterhouse was also spotted enjoying the evening; her fabulous support as Young Starlight Committee ambassador adding yet another sparkle to the elegant event. Bongo drum and saxophone players collaborated with the beats of the DJ’s tracks, to warm up the dance floor following the show and continued well into the hours of the night.

Ticket sales hugely exceeded expectations defining the show as an overwhelming success. “Over $54,000 was raised. All proceeds will go towards helping Starlight brighten the lives of more seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families across Australia,” said Starlight Foundation brand and communications manager, Anna Rodanski.

Volkswagon generously sponsored the event for the second consecutive year and recently agreed to continue their support in 2007.

Starlight puts the twinkle back into the eyes those who need it most, offering innovative programs to seriously ill and hospitalised children to restore an element of delight and joy in their lives. With more than 600,000 children hospitalised across Australia each year and an increased number spending time rehabilitating in the comforts of their own home, Starlight has the enormous job of touching the lives of every single one. Currently, the foundation reaches one in three.
