:: Spotlight :: Fashionista Summer 06-07

By: Renee Stekel

On a recent windy Wednesday night, there was something brewing in the air at Melbourne’s Docklands. An exciting night of fashion and frivolity was about to begin, and even more important was that substantial proceeds from the night’s events were being donated to a more than worthy cause, the Olivia Newton John Cancer appeal.

Braving the infamous Docklands breeze, many a fashionista turned out in support of what was officially called the ‘Fashionista Parade Summer 06-07’ showcasing local designer talent. People entered one of the Docklands most stylish new venues, The Quay Bar and Brasserie and made their way to the bar for pre-drinks if they could - the place was packed, everyone waiting eagerly with cameras to snap the latest fashions or just mingle with the crowd around the prominent white and pink catwalk.

After everyone had arrived, the parade got under way with local DJ’s and celebrities such as Peter Lazer modelling Melbourne’s up and coming designer-wear. Andi Lew, Channel 9 presenter for ‘Shopping For Love’ MC’d the event for the night introducing men's and women’s summer ranges from select Melbourne boutiques, including Esas, Must, Alchimia and Toya with models hair done by Expose Salons in Collins Street.

The audience were also treated to a finale sneak peak from Roberto Cavalli’s class men’s and women’s range. After the parades the night kicked on with people able to stay in the venue and mingle to the music of local DJs Andrew Padula, Pete Sofo and Carmine P and all for a fantastic cause.
