:: Spotlight :: Fashion Revealed at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week

It’s that time of year again! Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2009 has finally arrived and this annual fashion event cements Melbourne as Australia’s fashion capital. Style, talent and new stunning ideas are all exposed by leading local established designers and upcoming new talents. After two years of bringing carefully selected fashion designers Fashion Revealed will present three unique designers from the Asian community that forms part of Melbourne’s fashion market. Fashion Revealed will be showcasing the Spring Summer 2010 Collection from designers Thrill, Stand, Soho and Notre Dame De Paris to a large audience.

This year’s launch will predominantly focus on casual mens and womens wear, followed by middle and upmarket cocktail dresses plus a range of evening gowns. In addition a special presentation of Asian cultural and its classic dress designs from various nations will give a snapshot of multiculturalism offered by the City of Melbourne. Entertainment for night will include the MUTE dance group, a pack of young talented hip hop dancer and also the Violet Flames, a band who will be performing songs from their debut EP Sun City Stadium.

Limited VIP tickets are available for $25 which includes a free glass of champagne on arrival and a catwalk seat. Tickets can be purchased from Fashion Revealed organisers. Located in the heart of Bourke Street, Thrill specialises in casual and cocktail dresses which are carefully designed and inspired by Asian culture whilst representing individuality, bravery while encapsulating the beauty of femininity. Designed by Jessie Luong, Jessie and Wendy Luong this mother and daughter combo have gained their inspiration from their travels to Korea, Japan, China and Hong Kong. Coming from the current lifestyle of the younger generation, images of fun, excitement and living life to the fullest is an expression that is deeply displayed in all Thrill’s designs. Thrill’s designs have been worn by Australia’s platinum pop band the Veronicas.

Fresh for their success at Sydney Fashion Week, Stand has now alleviated its standard as a New Generation Designer to be reckoned with as it progresses into the international arena. STAND International was started in Las Vegas in 2003 by designer Paul Fields and Orion Taylor with the its’ vision - to create a street-wear label that makes a positive difference in the world. STAND’s popularity as a ‘stand up for what you believe in’ label has seen many notable US bands, and even some well known celebrities wearing the label. STAND brings about contemporary designs for male casual wear.

NotreDame De Paris
Starting out in Sydney as a textile manufacturing facility, Sam Kwan, the brain child for the label, brought together a conjoint wealth from his team of fashion designers which lead to the creation of the label specialising in cocktail dresses and high quality evening gowns. Sam Kwan brings about his inspiration from the classiness of society, a
lifestyle enjoyed by the wealthy and an expression of femininity is expressed in the sophisticated designs. Utilising cloth materials which are carefully sourced in Asia for its texture, every product in the range has a soft yet classy appearance.

Soho Workshop
Designed in Melbourne tailoring to the corporate working class, Soho workshop brings a sense of class yet comfortable attire suitable for a formal outing to a business meeting. The designs create a flair that not only catches the eye but delivers a sense of charm to the person wearing the attire. Suitable for men in the corporate world, Soho Workshop has also stretched its boundaries to cater to a casual look again with a sense of style through its fabric and clean cut image.
