:: Spotlight :: LMFF 2010 - Jeans West

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Jeanswest launched its Autumn Winter 2010 collection at the Malvern Town Hall as part of the 2010 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Denim was a definite stand-out on the runway at the show. It was a sold out parade in the lovely old building.

Denim in a myriad of styles; Coated, Ripped & Repaired, Biker Panelling, Acid wash, Japanese Selvedge and the 5 pocket favourites ruled the runway, teamed back with gorgeous knitwear in lurex, longline cardi jackets and figure hugging dresses. Statement pieces adorning sequins, frills & lace detailing added the wow factor, worn back with tough luxe Leather jackets giving the Collection a definite edge.

Menswear followed suit with an impressive Collection of on trend denim aligned to the season’s trends, together with smart longline jackets, denim blazers, stylish knitwear and shirting in stripes and checks.

LMFF Ambassadors Olivia and Miriam Nervo were keen observers of the runway show and, when asked post-show about the Jeanswest range, Olivia pointed quickly to the jeans she was wearing saying, “I’m loving Jeanswest. I’ve got my coated skinnies on tonight”.

The celebrations continued off the runway with drinks, canapés & tunes supplied by Sydney favourites the Bang Gang DJs. The Autumn/Winter ’10 Collection certainly looks and feels re-energised as the brand continues to evolve. The innovative denim will ensure Jeanswest a serious player on any fashionistas shopping list this season.
