By: Carmine Pascuzzi

A glittering event to mark the hairdressing event of the year took place in Melbourne at the Crown Showroom recently. The L'Oreal Professionnel Colour Trophy 2004 was awarded in a complete celebration under the event theme of Tranceform.

With exceptional standards and techniques by Australia's leading hairdressers, the international panel of judges had a difficult task in assessing the talent for the prizes on offer.

As it turned out, the prestigious prize for 2004 was awarded to Damien Rinaldo from Hair Machine in Norwood, South Australia.

He was judged the best from Katharine Gill (Editor Passion Magazine, UK), Charles Worthington (UK), Andrew Barton (SAKS UK), International Hairdressers Journal UK, and Franco Curletto (Italy). Points awarded by other international judges contributed to Damien amassing the highest number of votes to win the prize.

Other awards of note:

Next Generation Award National Final - Daniella Focarile (from Franco of Canberra)

Mens Style Gallery Award by Guy Kremer - Toni&Guy Bondi Junction, NSW

Other hairdressers to score wins from international judges were:
Danielle Solier, Xiang Hair Studio, Victoria
Connie Faranda, Hairloom, WA
Massimo Tirimacco, Hair Machine, Regent Arcade, SA
Lena D'Alonzo, Hairloom, WA
Toni&Guy, The Valley, QLD

The night was hosted by the Nine TV Network's Jamie Durie and musical entertainment was provided by Mandy Kane, Fur Patrol, and Endorphin.
