:: Spotlight :: L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2006 - L'Oreal Paris Runway 5

One of the freshest and funkiest shows of the week was Runway 5, kicked off in unique style with the employment of Arabian dancers to compliment MLDenimJeanswear’s ethnic-inspired garments. Roy made a statement with his winter range featuring influences as diverse as wharfies (think Marlon Brando in On The Waterfront), 60s psychedelic rock with the requisite marijuana motif and Dynasty-style diamantes and gold-plated glitz. Sisnme’s show was fun and frivolous, starring tizzed-up transvestites and go-go girls blowing champagne bubbles into the crowd. It was Extinct, however, who got the biggest reception of all, and amidst all the hype and hoo-ha of their musically brilliant parade was an impressive collection of up-to-the-minute men’s and women’s wear. The navy silk jumpsuit was a personal favourite.
