:: Spotlight :: Model Profile - Amy Guest

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

A young model from Sydney that we are pleased to profile is Amy Guest. She is an actor, model, musician and dancer. She has a special pedigree in that she is the daughter of the late Rob Guest. Rob was a legend in Australian show business and he sadly passed away in 2008. Amy has therefore been around the showbiz circles since a very young age. More recently she has done a great deal of promotional and bikini modelling.

Q. What is your family background?

A. I consider myself fortunate to be born into a family of entertainers. My Dad was Australia’s Phantom of the Opera for ten years and also Jean Valjean the lead role of Les Miserable for many years. My mother is a singer and sang on the Sydney club circuit for twenty-five years. They met in a show - and here I am.

Q. Did you grow up in your early teens wanting to be a model?

A. I grew up wanting to be everything that attracted attention! I danced, acted and sang my way through my teenage years, but when I entered a bikini contest and was placed, that gave me the inspiration to become a model.

Q. What have you discovered / learnt from the modelling scene?

A. I have learned not to ever take an opportunity for granted. To be disciplined, punctual and enjoy the moment.

Q. Career highlights to date?

A. Winning the NSW V8 model search was a real buzz. I so want to do well in this industry. Singing on Carols in the Domain Sydney at the age of 4, I still remember it so well and it was probably the catalyst to wanting to be in the public eye.

Q. Favourite hobbies?

A. Swimming, reading, singing

Q. Favourite music?

A. I don’t like to categorise as I enjoy all types of music.

Q. Favourite films?

A. I love war movies probably through talks with my grandparents - Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down.

Q. What is your fashion sense?

A. Glamour, swag, but love to relax around home in my comfortable trackies and a singlet.

Q. Beauty tips?

A. As I am a qualified Senior Hairdresser by trade, I think hair should always look the “crowning glory”. Take time for treatments and always use reputable products. They may be more expensive but the results are worth it. If eyes are tired from a big night, put two dessert spoons in the freezer for five minutes, place on your eyes (not too long as to burn the skin of course) this takes the puffiness away, I find to wear a darker lipstick then you would normally wear is a good distraction from tired eyes.

Q. Advice for young girls aspiring to be models?

A. Always keep your head, especially when things go a little pear shaped, and your feet on the ground. Be reliable. Stay true to yourself and most importantly never lose sight of your dream no matter what the knock backs may be.

Q. Do you think a man should treat a woman like he does his car?

A. If he is a car fanatic – a definite yes.

Q. Favourite place visited?

A. Hawaii - so relaxing, awesome shopping, great weather and cocktails.

Q. Do you have a role model/s?

A. Elle Macpherson and Christina Aguilera

Q. People you've admired generally?

A. My mother

Q. Are there any issues that you feel strongly about and would like to briefly discuss?

A. No issues really, I have strong principles, good work ethics, coupled with a good sense of humour that helps in adversity.

Q. Future ambitions?

A. To be the best I can be at whatever I put my heart and soul into. Take opportunities with both hands. Life is to short not to try to succeed.
