Q&A

Q. What is your family background?

A. I grew up in a small town and spent most of my childhood living on farms. My Dad did a lot of work as a dairy farmer in my younger years and my Mum and sister were hugely into their horses. Meanwhile I was anti anything big, scary & muddy. I'm the eldest of three kids. I have a little brother and sister who I adore more than anything in the world and am very close with.

Q. Did you grow up in your early teens wanting to be a model?

A. In my early teens I always had problems with my weight. Of course, modelling was always a dream, as it is for most young girls, but it was definitely too far fetched due to my size. Because of media etc, modelling was something I dreamt of doing from a very young age.

Q. What have you discovered / learnt from the modelling scene?

A. I've learnt that you need to stay modest, and treat everyone the same. Sticking your nose up and thinking you're better than everyone else won't get you anywhere. You get a lot more work if you're joyful to be around.

Q. Career highlights to date?

A. Definitely my shoot with Shaun Poh. It was amazing the response we got and it definitely got my name out there. He's extremely talented and it was an honour to work with him.

Q. Favourite hobbies?

A. I absolutely love singing. It's something that I've done since I was a young kid. Performing has always been a huge thing for me and I think it helps a lot with modelling.

Q. Favourite music?

A. I love all music! Anything new that I listen to on the radio in my car; all the old school music that I grew up listening to at my grandparents house, etc.

Q. Favourite films?

A. Definitely Burlesque. It was such an inspirational film, and Christina is so ridiculously talented. I envy that gorgeous lady! I get butterflies every time I watch it.

Q. What is your fashion sense?

A. I try to change my look depending on where I'm going or what I'm doing. I tend to switch it up depending on the trend. I love being able to go from a casual look with high tops and a beanie, to a classy black dress and red lip at night time.

Q. Beauty tips?

A. As a make-up artist I have way too many tips and tricks up my sleeve. My main one, and I know you've all heard this way too much before, is to drink lots of water! Honestly, you will see the difference straight away. Looking after your skin is so important! Especially for the long term.

Q. Advice for young girls aspiring to be models?

A. Get yourself out there and don't be shy! Download self timer onto your phone and play around with different angles and lighting. Look into some agencies and follow photographers etc. Learn as much as you can until you're old enough and ready to take on the industry! You won't believe what you can achieve.

Q. Do you think a man should treat a woman like he does his car?

A. It depends on the man and it depends on the car. If he looks after it, spends money on it, and treasures it, then yes! But if he drives a 1994 Nissan Pulsar and can't parallel park, then no.

Q. Favourite place visited?

A. Fiji! You honestly can't beat it. I went when I was about nine, but can't wait to go back. Best family holiday ever. I love the sun!

Q. Do you have a role model/s?

A. Of course! Without being cliched my role model would be my Mum. She raised us as a single parent. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be where I am today. She taught us all the best qualities and made sure we all had the most amazing childhood we possibly could. She's such a strong woman and has been through a lot, but continued to put us kids first no matter what.

Q. People you've admired generally?

A. I generally admire anyone that's made it big in this industry but started from so little, eg, small town, lack of money, etc. I feel like I've come from the same sort of background and feel inspired to see them make it so far. I hope I can do the same.

Q. Future ambitions?

A. More than anything I want to be able to travel and experience the world doing what I love. Modelling in different countries and meeting different people is my absolute dream. To top it off, doing this with my partner would be perfect! He works in the modelling industry as well and we're extremely supportive of each other. Moving to Australia will be the next step!
