:: Spotlight :: Model Profile - Kari Nautique

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

One can sense a particular young woman who looks natural and comfortable in front of a camera. With several years experience for Playboy, FHM, Maxim, American Curves Magazine, Heat Waves Magazine amongst others, the passion for modelling is written all over the face of New Jersey model Kari Nautique. She has been able to work with great photographers and publications. Kari is not just a fun-loving typical American who likes surfing and animals, but she is also entrepreneurial in establishing her own line of beach wear - Nautique Swim. We are therefore very pleased to be able to present a profile of her.

Q. What is your family background?

A. My family is mostly English and Irish, with a little bit of Native American a few generations back.

Q. Did you grow up in your early teens wanting to be a model?

A. Yes, absolutely! I used to staple photos of bikini models on my bedroom walls and dream of becoming a model.

Q. What have you discovered / learnt from the modelling scene?

A. That's a pretty loaded question, I've been doing this for a long time and I have learned a ton of things along the way, and I still have more to take in! I guess the best advice I ever received was to stay humble, no matter how far you go!

Q. Career highlights to date?

A. Playboy has definitely been one of my favourite highlights, I hope to do more with them in the future.

Q. Favourite hobbies?

A. Writing, hiking, and boating.

Q. Favourite music?

A. Everything! I love country music the most though. I grew up in the deep south of America and a lot of country music reminds me of home.

Q. Favourite films?

A. I'm not a big fan of movies, I just don't have time to watch them these days. I love comedies though.

Q. What is your fashion sense?

A. Whatever fits is fine with me!

Q. Beauty tips?

A. Always wear sunscreen! It'll save your skin from damage and keeps you looking young.

Q. Advice for young girls aspiring to be models?

A. Always research a company or photographer before you work with them. Get references and try bring a friend along to make you more comfortable, but above all, listen to your intuition. You have to put safety first.

Q. Do you think a man should treat a woman like he does his car?

A. No. No matter how well a man treats his car, he still doesn't respect it or value its opinions. A car is an object, a woman is a human being.

Q. Favourite place visited?

A. I've travelled to a lot of beaches, but I think Costa Rica has my favourite memories.

Q. Do you have a role model/s?

A. No, none come to mind.

Q. People you've admired generally?

A. I've always admired my Nanna. She raised her 10 siblings and 3 kids on a very small salary when she was my age. She's tough.

Q. Are there any issues that you feel strongly about and would like to briefly discuss?

A. Nothing I feel strongly about would be a “brief” conversation, but… Vaccinate your kids, don't abandon your family or your pets, and wear some sunscreen so you don't get skin cancer.

Q. Future ambitions?

A. I'd love to be able to mass produce my own bikini line and publish a few books in the future.
