Miss Universe, Jennifer Hawkins turned heads when she appeared in the front row to watch Spring Fashion Week’s vibrant celebration of lacy lingerie, sexy sleepwear and summer swimwear at Federation Square. Undercover showcased this year’s newest looks, which overwhelmingly feminine and flattering, with pretty bras and matching boy-leg knickers.

Princess Tam Tam’s simple lines in polka dots and florals had a 1950’s retro flavor, as did the slinky nighties from Sabi. Smitten Kitten was a little more daring and a little Moulin Rouge with some sexy red numbers that would make any girl feel like a temptress.

Edgar used clean neutral tones in its unisex array, while the Davenport collection of men’s boxers featured fresh prints and bold stripes. These well-built young men even got a giggle from Miss Universe with their cheeky performance.

The fluoro colours of the 1980’s returned to the catwalk in the swimwear of Flamingo Sands. Stripes and geometric patterns of hot pink, green and brilliant yellow were striking on black bikinis, and oversized shirts were made to match.

The bright colours and bold shapes continued with some structurally amazing designs by Zimmerman. The crisses, crosses, twists and cutouts in this selection redefine expectations of a swimsuit as a fashion item and made Zimmerman one of the big highlights of the show.

Wayne Cooper, on the other hand, made his statement with classic elegance and sensitivity to both fashion and practicality. Sunny yellow trims and feminine frills complemented the subtle tones of dark greens and soft greys to balance youthful fun with sophisticated allure.
