Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) 2011 was launched at Georges on September 2. Hosted by actor Blair McDonough, the scene was set for another vibrant, colourful week of showcasing Australian designers in the Melbourne CBD. Lord Mayor Robert Doyle was gloating about Melbourne being voted the World's Most Liveable City and duly proclaimed that 80% of the designers on show this week would be from Melbourne, and that the event added $4 million to the State's economy.

Guests on the night included the “Face” of MSFW Sophie Van Den Akker, ambassador Dannii Minogue, and America's Next Top Model personality J. Alexander, together with designers Arthur Galan, Gwendolynne Burkin, Richard Nylon, Paris Kyne and Lisa Barron. Grant Smillie and Vogue Williams set the musical pace at the launch.

**Flemington Spring Fashion Lunch**

The annual Flemington Spring Fashion Lunch brings fashion and racing together, as a way to celebrate the start of this year’s Spring Racing Carnival. It proved to be another lively event at The Atrium Flemington with plenty of food, fashion and entertainment.

Fashions were provided by Myer, including new designs by the Seven Network's Sonia Kruger (under her self-named label) plus established designers in the store - Aurelio Costarella, Wayne Cooper, Dom Bagnato and Simona.

Celebrity ambassadors Kris Smith and Rebecca Judd were on hand to model some pieces while guests were also blessed to receive a couple of performances by Ben Lewis and Anna O'Byrne from the latest theatrical show in Melbourne, Love Never Dies.

A preview of the upcoming film “The Cup” was also shown and actor Stephen Curry was on hand to provide an insight into his experiences of making this film. He plays jockey Damien Oliver who endured the heartache of having his brother Jason pass away just prior to the cup, yet courageously won the race on Media Puzzle. The film opens across Australia on October 13.
