By: Carmine Pascuzzi

The celebrations continue for 50 years of fabulous Fashions on the Field at one of Melbourne’s most anticipated events, the Flemington Spring Fashion Lunch on Thursday September 6. Headlined by Myer Ambassadors Rebecca Judd and Kris Smith, the glamorous luncheon will showcase Myer’s spring trends and welcome the new racing season in style, when more than 800 fashionable guests descend on Flemington.

Hosted by Channel Seven’s Matt White from Today Tonight and Kylie Gillies from The Morning Show, the event will feature interviews with special guests Myer Fashions on the Field past contestants, sharing a rare insight into Australia’s largest outdoor and most prestigious fashion event. In fitting with the festivities, cast members of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Tony Award winning South Pacific - Lisa McCune as Nellie and Teddy Tahu Rhodes as Emile, will thrill the room with exclusive performances of memorable 1950’s tunes.

On the catwalk, Myer will showcase the key looks for spring racing and guests will have the unique opportunity to preview the latest styles by leading Australian designers Aurelio Costarella, Toni Maticevski, Arthur Galan AG, Ellery, Dom Bagnato and more. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet notable past contestants, judges and ambassadors, straight from the pages of the highly anticipated Fashion & Flemington - a coffee table book celebrating the VRC’s milestone and a gift which each guest will receive. “Fashion & Flemington is a beautiful reminder of Fashions on the Field’s most glamorous personalities through the generations, capturing the standout racewear styles and breathtaking millinery across all decades of influence; the entrants and designers who have defined style at Flemington and a celebration of the unique spectacle that has made the Melbourne Cup Carnival one of the world's premier fashion events." — Emily Power, Slattery Media Group writer, Fashion & Flemington Editor.

As an official event of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, the annual luncheon is the place to be seen - with Melbourne’s fashion and social elite gracing Flemington’s Atrium in the finest racewear and on-trend millinery.

The Spring Fashion Lunch officially marks the start of the highly anticipated spring racing season at Flemington, when the home of the Melbourne Cup Carnival hosts Sofitel Girls’ Day Out featuring the Makybe Diva Stakes on Saturday September 8.
