It was a grand stage for the launch of Myer's Autumn Winter 2010 collection. The innovative evening show (yes, Myer was very keen to showcase its new collection in a lavish evening setting, in contrast to the last couple of small-scale occasions) had the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and huge cast and crew present a spectacular mood for the models to strut the garments.
Jazz pianist Steve Clisby provided the right mood on piano while Myer ambassador Jennifer Hawkins led the models in their glory. Jennifer looked extremely stunning this night, parading several garments.
She opened proceedings in a stunning gold dress made by top Melbourne designer Toni Maticevski. An army of female models followed Jennifer in an array of military suits designed by designers including Wayne Cooper, Basque, Cue, Nicola Finetti & Nina Maya. The guests were treated to the soulful jazz tunes by pianist and singer Steve Clisby.
Speaking to Jennifer later, she was excited by the way the event was organised and to dress up in the different styles. She really glowed on the night, wearing some very bold creations including a Manning Cartell charcoal dress, an elegant Matthew Eager navy gown and a dynamic red leather Charlie Brown dress.
Nick Bracks, son of the former Victorian Premier, Steve, made his modelling debut in Saxony and Ben Sherman, while other highlights included garments by Jayson Brunsdon, Yeojin Bae, Aurelio Coastarella and Wayne by Wayne Cooper. There was a poignant moment when outfits by the late British designer Alexander McQueen were showcased.
Menswear fans got a good look at various designers with offerings by Saxony, Flinders Lane, Wayne Cooper Men, Dom Bagnato, Country Road Mens, Hugo Boss & Politix. Noticeable were the slim double-breasted suits and the hip-length jackets.
It was a real extravaganza in which Myer was out to make a statement, an economic one that shows it is attempting to solidify its status as a leader in business. Its fashion ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins and Rebecca Twigley have helped greatly and everyone revelled in the collection launch event.
Other guests to have attended included Rebecca Twigley and Chris Judd, Olivia and Miriam Nervo, Steve Bastoni, Gyton Grantley, Kat Stewart, Laura Dundovic, Lauren Phillips, Matthew & Lisa Lloyd, Ruby Rose, Michael & Lindy Klim, and Fifi Box.
