The City of Stonnington will once again play host to one of Melbourne’s most anticipated annual fashion events, Spring Fashion Runway 2014, on Thursday September 18.

Stonnington embodies Melbourne’s most stylish shopping destinations, including Chapel Street, High Street Toorak Road, Malvern Central and Chadstone and is home to some of Australia’s most established fashion labels, fashion houses and creative home-grown talent. The runway show will be presented using three distinct fashion themes - hip, street style will be showcased in ‘Urban’, spring frocks and striking head pieces for ‘Spring Racing’ and Australia’s finest designer creations will be presented in ‘Couture’.

Designers for the runway include Alice McCall, Arthur Galan AG, Carla Zampatti and White Suede. Home-grown beauty Silvana Lovin returns to Australian shores from the US as the face of this year’s event. Silvana has worked with local brands such as Jayson Brunsdon, Nicolangëla and Trelise Cooper as well as international labels Oscar de la Renta, Louis Vuitton and Chanel amongst others.

“I am thrilled to be a part of one of Melbourne’s most exciting fashion events. Spring is the perfect time to be home, the weather is warming up and new season fashion is hitting the stores! Even though I am now living overseas, Australian designers are still some of my favourites and will always remain in my wardrobe,” said Lovin.

Spring Fashion Runway is held in the majestic Malvern Town Hall. The historic building will be transformed into a glossy fashion runway, showcasing looks from a line up of more than 30 leading Australian designers and Stonnington's premier fashion brands. City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Adrian Stubbs said ”The Spring Fashion Runway has grown every year, and this year we are excited for an even more memorable runway, with our own Silvana Lovin home for the occasion. Our shopping precincts lead the charge in Australian retail fashion and are a true Melbourne shopping destination for locals and tourists alike. The runway event really works to showcase the exceptional selection of local and international designers on offer in Stonnington.”

The program will also see a selection of Australian fashion trailblazers inducted into the Stonnington Fashion Hall of Fame - a respected award, attributed to influential figures in the Australian fashion industry. The prestigious honours will be presented at a private VIP morning tea ceremony, taking place at Malvern Town Hall on Wednesday, September 17. This year’s nominees will be in good company with previous inductees including Lisa Gorman, Karen Webster, Joe Saba, Alannah Hill, John Cavill, Teresa Liano and Arthur Galan, amongst many others.

Doors to the Spring Fashion Runway will open at 6.30pm and the runway presentation will commence at 7.00pm.
