:: Spotlight :: Stonnington Spring Fashion Hall of Fame 2015

The Spring Fashion season was launched in style when the City of Stonnington played host to one of Melbourne's most anticipated annual fashion events, the Stonnington Spring Fashion Hall of Fame VIP evening, at The Olsen.

The City of Stonnington embodies Melbourne's most sophisticated shopping destinations, including Chapel Street, Hawksburn, High Street and Toorak Road, Chadstone Shopping Centre and is home to some of Australia's most established fashion labels. Hosted by renowned fashion identity and journalist Janice Breen Burns, the invitation-only event featured an interview with 2015 inductees, renowned sleepwear designer Peter Alexander, and family of the late fashion doyenne, Mary Lipshut, including her son Peter Lipshut and friend Philip Boon.

An array of very fashionable guests were in attendance on the night including menswear designers Dom Bagnato and Nunzio Bagnato, Joe Saba, racing identity Alison Saville, milliners Melissa Jackson, Chantelle Ford and Kerrie Stanley, Dancing with the Stars' Ash Pollard, Camilla Counsel, Candice Wyatt and The Bachelor's Sarah Mackay.

City of Stonnington Mayor Cr Melina Sehr, also in attendance, acknowledged the contribution of Stonnington businesses to the Australian fashion industry over the last 15 years. “The Council's 2015 program showcases the diversity of the City's fashion and retail industry, from providing unique opportunities for our emerging designers at Expression Fashion Gala, to acknowledging long-time contributors to the industry at our Hall of Fame event. We are thrilled to have renowned sleepwear designer, Peter Alexander as this year's Hall of Fame inductee and acknowledge his significant contribution to the industry.” Cr Sehr said. “We are also honoured to have the son of the late fashion doyenne, Mary Lipshut, receive this year's award on her behalf.”

The Stonnington Fashion Hall of Fame is a well-respected award, attributed to prominent figures in the Australian fashion industry. Past inductees include Peter Jago, Lillian Frank, Lisa Baron, David Medwin and many more.

The evening also featured the unveiling of the first issue of South publication; a 32-page magazine dedicated to highlighting Stonnington's spring fashion, lifestyle and beauty offerings.
