Some of Australia's biggest designer names and leading fashion retailers are set to present a style-packed festival of fashion for the people, when the inaugural Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival (RSFF) kicks off from August 13-17, 2008.

Over five days, the event will profile Sydney's innovative and eclectic fashion offerings from major department stores to independent retail outlets and will herald a jam packed schedule of lunchtime and evening runway collection shows, in-store promotions, celebrity events, exhibitions, launches and after parties in and around Sydney.

A specially built, state-of-the-art marquee at Martin Place will welcome international models to the catwalk and celebrities to the front row. The public will also be well catered for seating and witnessing the latest ready-to-wear attire. The festival will showcase spring summer collections - everything from high fashion, to swimwear, lingerie, menswear, streetwear and kidswear - just as they hit the shops, giving you the opportunity to go straight out a pick up the latest runways trends. The festival promises to attract Australias biggest names in fashion, alongside a host of celebrities and international models. With names like Alex Perry, Jets, Anna Thomas, David Lawrence, Kirrily Johnston, Lisa Ho, Nicola Finetti and more on show, be inspired by an amazing range of new season spring summer collections just as they arrive instore.

Other planned elements of Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival include:

· A platform to present emerging NSW based designers, as a stepping stone to RAFW and beyond
· Embracing Olympic fever in 2008, with a special urban and sports themed showcase
· Provision of a Fashion Arena that will feature guest appearances by media celebrities, radio outside broadcasts, daily promotions, fashion and beauty makeovers, book signings and sponsor activities
· A number of fringe events and activities developed by third parties
· A Retail Walk that will encourage consumers to move between the runway shows and consumer incentives hosted by various retailers
· The presentation of the Australian Fashion Laureate 2008 as the closing event for the festival
· A custom published directory to the festival with wide consumer distribution promoting the schedule of events and highlights

Festival nightlife will certainly be a highlight as the city transforms into a true celebration of all things fashion. The
official Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival bar will be open to the public and located adjacent to the tent on Martin Place, creating a true destination to experience all the buzz of fabulous, fashion fun. Several other bars and clubs around the city and beyond will also join forces with Rosemount to present a fringe schedule of events catering for every fashionista’s need. Some of the participating venues confirmed to date include Bungalow 8, Crystal Bar, The Establishment, The Gazebo, The Loft, Trademark and Verandah Bar.
