:: Spotlight :: VRC Beautiful Girls Fashion Lunch 2010

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Six hundred fabulous ladies received a day of fashion, racing, food and entertainment at the Victoria Racing Club’s (VRC) annual Beautiful Girls Fashion Lunch on Wednesday, March 3 during the Autumn Flemington Festival of Racing.

Leading into the L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival and the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the glamorous lunchtime event was hosted by Channel 7 ladies Rebecca Maddern, Melissa Doyle and Natalie Barr. Guests were entertained by internationally acclaimed boy band and headline act, the Backstreet Boys, in the first Victorian performance of the band’s national ‘THIS IS US’ tour. Adding to the entertainment line-up were the stars of Fame the musical, dancing duo Talia Fowler and Tim ‘Timomatic’ Omaji, who lit up the stage with a heart stopping performance to the title number Fame.

Myer Racing Ambassador, Rebecca Twigley, and Menswear Ambassador Kris Smith helped showcase the latest Autumn racing fashions from Myer, Australia’s largest department store, in a large-scale runway show.

The Myer 2010 Autumn Racewear Collection featured garments from 26 stand-out designers and milliners including Arabella Ramsay, Camilla and Marc, Nicola Finetti, Wayne Cooper, Karen Millen, Leona Edminston, T.L Wood, Jeff Banks, Dom Bagnato and Hugo Boss and milliners Kerrie Stanley and Richard Nylon.

This was a prelude to Flemington’s biggest day of racing outside of the Spring Carnival, ‘Super Saturday’ on March 6, which unfortunately was the victim of one of Melbourne's biggest downpours of rain and hail seen in years, and which led to some races being cancelled.

Here are some pics from the lunch.
