:: Agua Bendita swimwear 2009 collectionBy: Carmine PascuzziComing in with a bang to the swimwear industry scene, Agua Bendita is recognised internationally by their spectacular designs and avant-garde fabrics. Its playful concepts, colours and styles have made Agua Bendita a highly buzzed-about brand. Agua Bendita combines laser cut technology with the complexity of its handicrafts. The same colour and variety of textures present in Agua Bendita swimsuits is also seen in their accompanying cover-ups and accessories line. The classic bikinis and one-piece suits are impossible to ignore thanks to the handmade embroidery, crochet detail, and finishes in visible and thick threads. Agua Bendita featured in the most recent Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue with models such as Marissa Miller and Bar Rafaeli showcasing their couture swimsuits. Swimwear 2009 Collection Inspiration Agua Bendita 2009’s collection is an ode to fairies, myths, and fantasy. The couture swimsuit brand, which is renowned for their fabulous craftsmanship and unique designs, has created a new collection appropriately named Alusina Melusina, or “Hallucinate Melusina”. Melusina is a feminine spirit of fresh waters that lives in sacred springs and rivers. Her body is half human half mermaid, and the old European folklore tales refer to her as a strong, resilient, and magical kind of goddess. The premise of a mermaid-like, water-loving woman with spirit and strength, ties in flawlessly with Agua Bendita’s overarching theme and their creation of couture swimsuits for women. Collection Inspired by this magical being, designers Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinestroza have moved away from the traditional summer and beach inspiration creating a swimsuit collection in which the colours of nature are vibrant and full of romantic and subtle details. From the new 2009 line expect plenty of swimsuit embroidery, ruffle trim, crochet bikinis and cover-ups, designer beach bags, and flower detailing. Vibrant tones, shining and fluorescent, diverse textures and the usual mix between handcraft and technology, are some of the characteristics of the swimsuits and accessories for this season. Some of the pieces like the handmade embroidery dresses take up to 20 days of hand work. The designers follow every step of production to make ensure the collection makes an impact for its beauty, for its comfort and most importantly for its quality.
