:: Bench launches new Spring/Summer 2008-2009

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Bench releases its spring/summer 2008-2009 collection due in store from August 2008. The now legendary graphic logo is ever present, but is joined by new strong visuals, cubic prints and illustrative based graphics. Placement is key to the look and branding can be found off set or positioned where least expected.

Olive, blue and grey dominate the men’s range with cool 100% short sleeve and long sleeve tees, overhead hoodies, zip through jackets, cargo pants and cargo shorts to complete the urban street silhouette. Street influences come to the fore as Bench create their signature raw logo’ed look and rough finishing and trims, along with the distressed, battered influences whilst washes and details enhance the range.

The women’s range sets the tone for streetwise summer action with cute check shorts, canvas style dresses, 100% cotton short and long sleeve tees, hooded tees, slouch canvas trousers, slim shirt dresses, tricots, stretch twill shorts and skinny twill pants.

Other highlights in the women’s range consists of plush Angora mix pull-ons, graphic singlets, belted stretch twill shirts and cool metallic spray knit dresses for maximum affect. Bench celebrates summer with a colour palette of gold, white and fresh blues. Graphics complement this youthful and edgy range with cool city and metallic camo prints, slogans, digital visuals and Bench’s signature misplaced and positioned brand logo, identifying the wearer as fashion-conscious with attitude.

Bench was born in the mid 1990s. Initially a small menswear brand, Bench was a cool underground label with roots in skateboarding and BMX, and was known for strong, graphic-based printed tees and sweats. Bench has now developed into an urban lifestyle brand with a broad, exciting collection, appealing to a variety of urban sub-cultures.

Bench is now the fourth largest selling brand in the UK. Bench’s distribution has extended over recent years and is now sold in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
