:: Bracewell appoints new Head Designer

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Bracewell is proud to announce the appointment of a new Head Designer, Hayley Killigrew, who has come across from Jigsaw Australia, where she worked for four years as a Senior Designer. After completing a degree in Fashion Design at Bristol University in England in 1993, Hayley accepted a position in London, which lead to extensive travel to Hong Kong, India and China. Half of her time was spent working in Hong Kong, liasing with American buyers to develop a range that would retail in American department stores, and the other half she spent designing product for the UK High Street, working with brands such as Oasis, River Island and Topshop. Enticed by postcards of sunny Aussie beaches and beautiful countryside, Hayley followed family out to Australia in 1998 and quickly began working in the industry.

Hayley’s personal style is feminine yet quirky with an eclectic twist. She has a love of all things hand-made; beautiful organic objects or simple fun pieces that make you feel free and happy. No doubt these characteristics will transfer into her designs for Bracewell. Hayley said, “I’ve been given this great opportunity to showcase my best work as a designer. I hope to capture the essence of Bracewell while remaining true to my design ethics.” Moving forward, Hayley hopes to explore the diverse fabrics available in Australia and will continue to manufacture locally where possible.

Hayley’s first collection for Bracewell will be released for Winter 2009. Bracewell has six stores around Australia including, (NSW) Paddington, Bondi Junction, Chatswood, Market City, (VIC) South Yarra, Chadstone, and is available from over 200 leading independent retailers nationally, as well as New Zealand, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.
