:: Children Of The Sun winter collection launchBy: Matylda BuczkoThe suits at the Albert Park Hotel where slightly baffled while drinking their post-work beers on Thursday night, when the stylish bar was overrun by blokes in flannel shirts sporting killer mullets, while chicks wearing cut-off denim shorts and Ugg boots mounted a Harley Davidson on the footpath.
No, it was not the new meeting place of the local Hell’s Angels, but the launch party of Belinda Fairbanks' winter clothing range for her label Children of the Sun. Belinda says the simple philosophy of “being fun and loose” is the inspiration behind the new range, and a desire to move away from the bright colours and prints that dominated her summer range. The party certainly got loose and fun, with Bacardi providing a new range of Vodka Cruisers to fuel the punters head-banging to ACDC and other classic Aussie rock.
Models with 80s hair paraded around in flannel shirts, adding glamour to the “hard as nails” theme of the night, while guests were snapped on Polaroid and given the print as a memento of the night - not that it would soon be forgotten. The night was indeed rocking, with local celebrities partying down to support the launch.
The Children of the Sun Winter Collection is now in store nationally from around 50 leading independent retailers including Jetty Surf, Glue Store, Surf Dive n Ski, Trigger Bros and Venus & Mars. Prices range from $60 for tops through to $140 for jackets.
