:: In Season

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Rub shoulders with fashion royalty or secure an intimate audience with the opinion-makers of Australian fashion as In Season brings the glamour of international catwalks to the nation. In 2010 In Season will again offer an unrivalled fashion experience with a celebrity line-up including international fashion illustrator David Downton and MTV Presenter, model and fashion icon, Ruby Rose.

As one of Australia’s most celebrated retail fashion events, In Season will draw back the veil on the season’s essential styles, colours and accessories at 29 leading fashion destinations, including Chadstone – The Fashion Capital, Chatswood Chase Sydney and QueensPlaza. Whether its tips from Australia’s leading fashion editors or front row at a Vogue Australia runway show, In Season will set the key trends for your spring-summer style.

Fresh from collaborating with Australian label Milk & Honey, Ruby Rose has produced a limited edition tote bag to celebrate In Season at 10 of Australia’s most style savvy shopping centres. The MTV VJ’s unique street ‘n sweet style has proved a hallmark, blending classic shapes and styles with street detailing to reflect her own unique personality. Her individuality and confidence has proved alluring to both her legion of fans and the fashion industry. Now fashion lovers can take home their own Ruby Rose creation, exclusive to In Season at shopping centres across the country, including; Broadmeadows, Forest Hill Chase, Grand Plaza, Midland Gate, The Myer Centre Adelaide, The Myer Centre Brisbane, Northland, Rockingham and Hyperdome.

In 2009 David Downton’s illustrations of Cate Blanchett appeared on four covers of Australian Vogue, resulting in unprecedented sales for the magazine’s 50th anniversary edition. David’s unique ability to capture the essence of his subject in a few simple lines and colours has seen him trace the fashion industry’s mercurial shifts and frame some of its most captivating subjects.

Exclusive to In Season, David Downton will launch his new book, Masters of Fashion Illustration, at Chadstone, Chatswood Chase and Queens Plaza this September. The lavishly illustrated, beautifully designed book celebrates the colourful lives and dazzling work of the great 20th century fashion illustrators, as chosen by David Downton. It showcases the work of the great names in the field; Érte, Carl Erickson, René Bouché, Andy Warhol and Antonio Lopez. Many of the stunning illustrations have not been seen since they were first published and some are reproduced for the first time.

From model selection to styling, Vogue has designed events to thrill and entertain while showcasing this summer’s latest styles. These exclusive events in Melbourne and Sydney will be hosted by Vogue’s fashion team, including Vogue.com.au Editor Damian Woolnough and Fashion Editor Emma Wood.
