:: The Birth of JASONGRECH WhiteBy: Carmine PascuzziImagine a piece of lace so intricate and delicate that it could only be made by hand. Sophie Hallette and Richers Marescot laces are just that. Each exquisite line is created by specialist tulle makers on 19th century cast-iron machinery; the entire process embodies over 100 years of traditional craftsmanship. This lace begins its journey in Paris, loomed and beaded by hand. Every piece takes a painstaking six weeks to pull together, before it is bundled carefully in leaves of tissue paper and shipped all over the world to the likes of Balenciaga, Dior, Christian Lacroix and Chanel, where renowned designers work them into feature pieces for their haute designs. The very same laces are now shipped to the JASONGRECH Style Office, where Jason Grech is creating a new made-to-measure wedding gown collection for blushing brides. Truly, this is lace so beautiful that it does deserve a starring role on the biggest day of a girlʼs life. “It all starts with the lace,” says designer Jason Grech “Itʼs the inspiration behind the entire gown, because you want to show it off as the feature detail of the bridal dress. I am thrilled to be using such prestigious designs from Sophie Hallette and Richers Marescot. I think the height of detail in their pieces sets my bridal collection apart.” JASONGRECH designers Jason and Harry have been creating couture bridal on request for 11 years now. And while pair opened their boutique dress label JASONGRECH in 2004, this year marks the launch of JASONGRECH White, Jasonʼs first made-to-measure bridal range. And based on his background of show-stopping glamour, brides-to-be everywhere should be very excited! The range boasts all the hallmarks of JASONGRECH – intricate detailing, individual designs created from amazing fabrics including European delicate silks and lustrous satins, along with the imported French laces. Most importantly – the range is designed to complement a womanʼs body from top to toe. There is something perfect for any body shape, a skill that comes from years of dressing women to look their absolute best. “After 11 years of doing couture bridal design, I realised that itʼs something I really love doing. I could not find anything that I would love to wear if I was a bride in the made-to-measure market that was beautiful, luxurious and glamourous. Brides have been asking us for years if we do bridal,” says Jason Grech. “I thought it was time to finally launch my own collection and continue to offer the exclusive couture service. We offer our brides an experience - they are welcome to come into our Style Office and see the gown physically being made. We invite our brides to enjoy the journey with us,” Jason says. The designer has taken the essence of the JASONGRECH brand and used it to craft an exciting collection of gowns that command attention, yet are effortless, modern and glamorous. Brides will certainly not be disappointed with the level of attention lavished on them. Jason tends to every fitting personally, not to mention his input on the accessories…“ The wedding day is about more than just the dress – I help the bride with her entire look, from the perfect shoes and jewellery to the right bouquet, all hand-chosen to complement their gown and create a breathtaking impression on their big day.” Designs can be seen at the JASONGRECH Style Office in North Melbourne.
