:: Make Me A Make-up Artist

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Australia’s top celebrity make-up artist, Rae Morris, will spearhead a new reality show to find the country’s next top make-up artist. The online reality drama will see four finalists pitted against each other in challenges under the watchful eye of three judges and a film crew who will capture each stressful moment for six online webisodes.

“We’re looking for Australia’s unsung make-up heroes to step up, and go pro,” commented Rae Morris. “If you're 18 or over, have some make-up experience and are trying to break into the industry, or your friends always call on you to do their make-up before a big night out, then we want you to register!

The show, entitled ‘Make Me A Make-up Artist’, will see the four finalists battle it out over four professional make-up challenges in order to win a grand prize that includes having their work showcased in a six page Cleo spread and $10,000 cash, thanks to Priceline, where you find all the fabulous brands at famously low prices. The six ‘webisode challenges’ will also be documented in a 10 page article in the May issue of CLEO.

“Each challenge will require our fearsome four to showcase stunning make-up looks that show off their creative skills and ability to meet editorial and advertising briefs,” continued Rae. “Open to both budding male and female make-up artists, the finalists will be filmed working their magic for the cameras, fuelled by adrenalin and relying on all the tricks in their make-up tool kit to win.”

Contestants need to hurry, online registration closes Valentine’s Day, February 14. Finalists will be required to be in Sydney from February 21 to 25.

‘Make Me A Makeup Artist’ will premiere on March 22, 2010, with a new episode airing each week for six weeks here

**Update as at March 20, 2010**

The show, entitled ‘CLEO Make Me A Makeup Artist’, is launching on March 22 and features four of Australia’s up- and- coming make-up artists battling to become the country’s next great make-up artist. The glamorous profession and the people who make it to the top often command the very ‘Hollywood’ fee of $5,000 a day.

L’Oreal Paris make-up Director, Rae Morris, who also acts as the girl’s mentor on the show, comments, “This will really be a great step up for the winner in the makeup industry and the tricks they will learn will be invaluable. Let’s face it - celebrities and advertising clients have got so much at stake when the camera starts rolling, a bad makeup job can ruin their brand instantly. Each challenge the contestant faces in this reality show will require our fearsome four to showcase stunning make-up looks that show off their creative skills and ability to meet editorial and advertising briefs.”

The show will see the four finalists battle it out over four professional make-up challenges in order to win a grand prize that includes having their work showcased in a six-page Cleo spread and $10,000 cash, thanks to Priceline and a L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Make-Up kit (valued at $2500). The six ‘webisode challenges’ will also be documented in a 10-page article in the May issue of CLEO.
