:: L’Oréal Professionnel presents Rock ‘n’ Folk

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Music is a source of inspiration that permeates all facets of our culture. For Autumn / Winter 2010, L’Oréal Professionnel presents a colour collection showcasing two musical genres and their prevailing icons: Rock ‘n’ Folk.

Each season in Paris, colour experts for L’Oréal Professionnel collaborate and discuss the latest trends trickling through fashion, in film, theatre, art and on the streets. These trends are vital sources of inspiration which are skillfully translated into an exclusive colour collection and made available to L’Oréal Professionnel salons and their clients around the world.

L’Oréal Professionnel’s Rock’n’Folk colour collection explores the personalities, styles, tastes and emotions captured within two distinct music styles - Rock and Folk music.

UNLEASH YOUR INNER ROCK STAR WITH MAJIREL COLOUR
Rock music embodies the spirit of young rebels asserting their individuality. With razor sharp edge and eclectic energy, the Majirel Rock Star shades encompass the modern, provocative and glamorous world of rock music and its legends. Inspired by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Brian Setzer and Debbie Harry, the Majirel Rock Stars feature strong cuts with graphic contours injected with striking flashes of bold colour.

EMBRACE YOUR INNER POET WITH LUOCOLOUR
LUOCOLOUR is inspired by the romantic melodies and nomadic lifestyles associated with Folk music. The LUOCOLOUR poets capture the relaxed, hippie chic style reminiscent of the Peace & Love Woodstock era. Inspired by some of the most influential artist of all time, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin and Joan Baez; these Folk stars captivated audiences with their political and ethical messages through music. Romantic and soft, the LUOCOLOUR Folk inspiration features long, flowing hair, disheveled in texture and subtle woven threads of colour.

THE ROCK ‘N’ FOLK LOOK BOOK WITH CATERINA DI BIASE
In order to capture the contrast between these two distinct worlds of music, L’Oréal Professionnel invited world renowned hairdressers; Yannick d’Is to be the creative artist behind “Rock” and Marc Lopez as the creative artist behind “Folk” to come together and produce a complete on-trend visually inspiring Rock ‘n’ Folk colour collection and look-book.

L’Oréal Professionnel Australia Ambassador Caterina DiBiase; two-time winner of the Australian Hairdresser of the Year Award (2007, 2009) and winner of the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy Award (2000), was invited to Paris to work on the official Rock ’n’ Folk look book and showcase her talent. In the Rock collection, Caterina explores the personality of a Rock Diva contrasting feminine shapes, extreme texture and a high fashion bold blonde.

“Working in Paris for L’Oréal Professionnel was a highlight in my career. Working on such an inspirational collection meant we could really push the limit of creativity. The end result is just beautiful and I have loved being a part of the on going series of international look books for the brand! The rock culture to me stands for strength and individuality. These two themes in particular are something more women are asking for when they come into the salon.” - Caterina Di Biase for L’Oréal Professionnel.
