:: Shu Uemura’s Tokyo Lash Bar

By: Lucy Q

Ladies, let’s put on our metallic lycra leotards and set off to a Sci-fi Wonderland. Otherwise known as Tokyo, this futuristic city of soaring skyscrapers and psychedelic fantasies will get you hypnotised in a scintillating illusion. A little mystified? Before you start hitting travel.com, here’s something that will transport you into this futuristic fantasy in a blink of an eye.

Shu Uemura - the makeup label light years ahead of modernity - was the first to create lashes as a seasonal item. At the launch of 2010’s Tokyo lash bar – I was captivated to witness the naissance of the new age in lashes: reflectors. A sculptural telescopic construction, these reflectors flirt with light. It’s a paradox of an optical illusion. This look is Milla Jovovich in Fifth Element – perhaps her long lost Japanese sister.

For those who prefer more delicate textures on their eyes, the neo-fringe, $120 and neo-sparkle, $120 lashes offer a more natural option. In line with the city of high-tech creations, the beauty gears of neo-fringe are its Swarovski crystals that create a magnetising flash. Neo-sparkle features particles resembling diamond dust, for a more feminine look for your trip to the technetronic dream land.

Has this trip to a neo-tokyo odyssey got me spellbound? You bet.

Shu Uemura is available exclusively at David Jones.
