:: Sportsgirl 2008 winter season launchBy: Louise PreeceIt was a brightly coloured explosion of BMX boys that kicked off the launch of the 2008 Sportsgirl winter fashion parade at Central Pier’s Peninsula at Melbourne's Docklands.
Sportsgirls from around the country were thrilled as they were treated to a visually spectacular fashion parade and sneak preview into next season’s range, including dance, break-dancing and an exciting BMX show. The new range included funky vintage jackets, shirts, long floral skirts and trousers. This season’s winter range is all about layering; bright stripy socks and trendy vests were a strong feature. Models showed the crowd how to look good and have fun.
Accessories weren’t spared either with a focus on big leather belts, soft paisley scarves, earrings, head-bands and chunky necklaces. Skinny leg jeans, as well as footless tights are still in the forefront of the fashion circuit. Models strutted their stuff as they showed off the eclectic selection of knitted jumpers, cardigans and scarves, as well knitted tights and socks.
The vintage theme this winter was topped off with a large range of old school Sportsgirl clothes in the traditional red, blue, yellow and green colours.
The finale was performed by special guests Operator Please with an after-party at Docklands bar Alumbra where guests partied on into the night.
