:: TV for Sportsgirl collectionBy: Carmine PascuzziGet ready to tune your fashion radar into TV at Sportsgirl. That’s right, one of the country’s most exciting fashion labels has joined the list of designers who have collaborated with legendary brand Sportsgirl as part of its on-going Australian designer program. Continuing its role as the definitive resource for design originality and creativity, Sportsgirl continues to be a hub for the best young and emerging Australian design, taking you on a boundless antipodean in-store adventure. The exclusive to Sportsgirl collection by Melbourne label TV hit stores recently and demonstrates the label’s inimitable sense of style and quirky take on cool. Ingrid Verner and Monika Tywanek, the talented duo behind TV, show an innate commitment to the expansion of ideas. The resulting garments stand alone as individual artworks. When they are worn, they are imbued with life. Seduced by notions of bird-like freedom, TV took flight with gemstones, hand developed fabrics, a three dimensional knit pattern and perforated leather to create TV for Sportsgirl. The collection draws upon all things ethereal, intrinsically linking nature to the female form, conjuring a peaceful aural language through print and fabric texture. The free spirited 10-piece range which stars pieces such as the Coogi Knit Boy Pullover, Perforated Leather Jacket, Printed Bird Dress and Bow Pencil Skirt, is uncompromising, playful and bold. The creative partnership between the former high-school friends is a force to be reckoned with. Their shared love of visual art, design and photography permeates through their work. Darkly imaginative, yet undeniably wearable, their collections have attracted an army of trend-setting fans. Their attention to detail, powerful use of colour, shape and avant-garde approach has made TV a dynamic fashion label to watch. TV for Sportsgirl is a diverse collection that persuades you to explore, experiment, and embrace the poetry - now that’s TV worth watching. In its continued support of emerging Australian talent Sportsgirl has been supporting young designers for more than six years. The collection is available at selected stores. |
