:: Vivienne Westwood for melissa arrives in Australia

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Anglomania, the collaboration between leading Brazilian footwear label melissa and British fashion icon Vivienne Westwood, is set to have fashion hearts racing when it arrives in Australia in June. The limited edition collaboration will feature two key designs; one, the re-creation of one of Westwood’s most popular designs and the other a unique take on ‘ultragirl’, a melissa favourite and global best seller.

Westwood’s well known high heeled leather Mary-Jane from the Spring Summer 2000 collection has been transformed in melissa’s patented PVC in colours of red, fuchsia, navy blue, green, beige, black and white. In addition, the cult ‘ultragirl’ design has been given a Westwood twist with Velvet flocked and PVC options featuring signature tartan print or rose patterned insole. Unquestionably British, undeniably feminine and fearlessly non-conformist the Anglomania collection by melissa is not to be missed.

Responsible for creating the original jelly sandal in 1979, melissa has since developed into one of the world’s leading (and environmentally aware) footwear companies successfully combining fashion, design and art. In addition to creating some of the most sought after designs globally, melissa has collaborated with some of the most respected names in fashion such as; Jean-Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, Alexandre Herchcovitch, the Campana Brothers and British Designer / Art Director; Judy Blame.
