:: Braquo

One of the most thrilling new dramas to come from France received an Emmy Award for “Best Drama Series” at the 40th Award Ceremony held in New York on November 19 2012. Braquo has been broadcast on pay TV in Australia and is now on DVD. It is lean, tense, and highly addictive and pushes at the very limits of TV violence. The award-winning show will have you on the edge-of-your seat from start to finish and though spoken in French, with English subtitles, you will be captivated and unable to turn away for fear of missing out on another twist to the story.

Braquo (slang for Heist) follows a squad of Paris cops who exist in the blurred boundaries at the very edge of the law, often using violence and intimidation to get the job done. The lives of these officers change radically when their squad leader, falsely accused of corruption, commits suicide. Determined to clear his name they start an investigation of their own, only to find that the police department itself stands in their way. Driven by adrenaline and a thirst for justice, they must turn their backs on the laws they're sworn to enforce if they are to uncover the truth. Facing constant danger from all sides - and with the two most likely outcomes being imprisonment or death - the stakes couldn't be higher, but that merely serves to
crank up the tension in this acclaimed series.

Braquo is a dark realistic cop series from world-famous filmmaker and former police officer Olivier Marchal. The French crime drama holds the viewers’ attention and is full of great storytelling, as well as knives to faces, tortures, explosions and automatic weapons. Braquo launched in France in 2010 and was the highest-rating domestic drama on premium pay network Canal +. Premiering in Australia on the Showcase Channel, the new French drama received more than 140,000 viewers in the first 10 days. With Season Two coming out early next year, Season Three currently in production, and a growing fan base the new show is sure to be a huge hit!
