Tropfest was the brainchild of Australian filmmaker John Polson. he set about giving opportunities for short-films to take stage in a big festival in Sydney.
The event has grown enormously from its humble beginnings at the Tropicana Cafe and now reaches an international audience by webcast.

This documentary takes a look back at the Tropfest years 1993-2000, and focuses on the judging process. It's quite humorous and tells things candidly.

The Collectors DVD also features some of the best, critically acclaimed shorts from Tropfest, plus outtakes and interviews with some of teh key people involved.

It is a worthwhile item for a budding filmmaker and for film enthusiasts. Tropfest has now become a major event in the film calendar and many hundred entries now vie for competition prizes that Tropfest offers.
