:: The History Of Mr Polly

The legendary H.G. Wells created this fanciful Victorian tale of Alfred Polly (Lee Evans), an ordinary man who, rather than pursuing his dreams, follows a conventional path in life and finds himself desperately unhappy. Burdened with a nagging wife (Anne-Marie Duff) and a failing business, his unbearable desperation spurs him to take violently drastic action to end it all - but action is exactly what is needed to transform the existence of a fool into the life of a gallant, adventurous hero.

The team of director Gillies MacKinnin and screenwriter Adrian Hodges accomplish a solid piece of British drama in bringing this adaptation to television.
