:: The InterpreterSilvia Broome (Nicole Kidman) is one of the many interpreters working at the United Nations headquarters in New York. She hears of details of an attempt to assassinate the autocratic Head of State Edmund Zuwanie (Earl Cameron) from the continent's oppressed Matobo. Accordingly, she advises the authorities and the dignitary protection team Tobin Keller (Sean Penn) and partner (Catherine Keener), who are sent in to find the origin of this plot and avoid an international incident of huge proportions. The story gets complicated as suspicions arise as to credentials of Silvia. Other shadowy figures emerge behind this assassination plot and an interesting outcome ensues. Director Sydney Pollack demonstrates his cleverness and gifted filmmaking ability. He creates important messages behind the action.
