The St Kilda Film Festival recently announced the 100 Australian short films that will screen at the 26th St Kilda Film Festival from May 26-31.

“Sometimes it can be a concern where you need to say well no that’s not me, that’s my character. But it’s lovely. People get to follow your progression, your story so its just natural that people come to think of you as a friend because they see you go through all of your ups and downs. Emma is one of those characters that is very angelic and very perfect and sweet, so I guess Jeffrey’s experience with her is what you can expect from a lot of fans.”

La Vie En Rose is directed by Olivier Dahan, and the cast includes Marion Cotillard, Gérard Depardieu, and Jean-Paul Rouve. The film is released in Australia on July 12, 2007.

The Australian Red Carpet Premiere of ‘Animal Kingdom’ was held at Hoyts Melbourne Central recently.

“Piranha was like a big family. I had a wonderful time and all the cast and crew were so friendly. I couldn't have been any happier. Yes, they were very inquisitive about my career. I wasn't sure if they would accept me, but I had a great time.”

Lancia is the Official Sponsor of the fifth edition of the Rome International Film Festival, held between October 28 and November 5, 2010. It is hosting many local and international film stars and celebrities in the Lancia Cafe.

The Iron Lady is the story of a woman who came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.

One of the most unique film festivals in Australia, the third annual Warrambeen Film Festival, has announced that earlybird tickets are now on sale for the event on March 3, 2012. Held on a working sheep, crop and free range pig farm between Geelong and Ballarat in country Victoria, screens will be found in unique locations including the 1832 bluestone woolshed, an outdoor fruit orchard and old paddock creek bed.

“There was an amazing vibe on set – like a family. The two guys alongside me were friends I’d known a while ago through the acting scene. We’re like brothers.”

The main theme of the film is unity and diversity. All these cultures can exist together. This is a good theme for people to appreciate – one sixth of the world’s population living in a certain way and it’s important to acknowledge it.

“I did not physically storyboard myself, I got someone else to do it, but I did storyboard in a very rudimentary fashion because I was doing all the pre-production in Sydney –where I did all of my storyboarding – but we shot the film in Adelaide. So I storyboarded the kind of how I saw the blocking of certain things in my mind, but I couldn’t story board exactly, because we didn’t have locations, we didn’t have any of that, so quite often I had to throw the story boards out and start again. But with the opening with the cart wheeling, that was all exact to the storyboards.”

Film Victoria recently celebrated the amazing contribution that Simpson Le Mesurier has made to the Victorian film and television industry over the past 25 years at a special lunch.

“The production problems were caused by the Italian Anti-Defamation League which had shut down early production of the film in New York. Paramount Pictures was bought by Gulf & Western. The last thing they wanted was problems and there were rumours that the whole thing would shut down. That’s when I got involved to make it work. Egotistically, I wanted this film to come out.”

The film “Boytown” tells of a musical group of middle-aged men who plan a great comeback. The Melbourne premiere took place recently and it featured radio presenters Hamish & Andy broadcasting their drive-time show from the Jam Factory cinemas in South Yarra.

The Australian Film Institute (AFI) is delighted to announce that the Feature Film category for the 2005 AFI Awards has now been finalised, with sixteen Australian feature films entered in competition.

Popular US actor Ashton Kutcher hit the black carpet in Melbourne recently when the premiere of his new film ‘Killers’ occurred at South Yarra's Jam Factory cinemas. Alongside him for the promotional tour was director Robert Luketic.

HOLA Mexico Film Festival (HMFF), touring nationally across Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane from October 21 to December 4, brings you 16 films including documentaries, comedies, grand dramas and a retrospective of three Luis Estrada films, all Australian premieres, which showcase Mexico as a land of contrasts as seen through the eyes of talented Mexican film directors.

“But the great thing about Jude is that he’s got a great career ahead of him, and I think as his looks becomes less significant part of the package, our interest in him as an actor will rise rather than fall.”

“I didn’t want this to fall to the same level as American genre movies, because you can’t compete with them. I wanted to do something different, so I thought ‘I’ll go in the other direction. I’ll cast really normal looking actors – people that are attractive but also look like people you know, like someone you might have grown up with. I think by doing that, it makes it more personal with the audience. We believe the story a little more and so we go into that horror more. That’s what I was planning.”

The Australian Premiere for the new British film ‘The Boat That Rocked’ was staged at the Village Cinemas at Crown Melbourne. Three of the stars flew to Australia for the premiere event, Nick Frost, Bill Nighy and Rhys Darby.
