Hollywood Stars

Edited by Louise Stern
Published by Pan Macmillan Australia

This is a magnificent book of nearly 600 pages in which brief biographical sketches and hundreds of photographs celebrate our favourite Hollywood actors.

The essence of this publication is the beautiful glossy photographs that relive some of Hollywood’s unforgettable moments. The book begins at the letter “A” with Julie Andrews and ends with “W” and Natalie Wood. You won’t get detailed text; only a very brief rundown of the actor’s career. But the photography is sure to capture attention.

The Kobal Collection holds all the archived work of renowned film archivist John Kobal and this is the testament to the wonderful people who made their films amongst the favourites of many film followers.

It is a tremendous collection of images that tell much about the history of film and what certain actors meant to the fans. A look through the book takes you through all the greats, such as Marlon Brando, Cary Grant, Gene Kelly, Clark Gable, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Sophia Loren, Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn. The modern-day stars get a good mention too, and young film buffs will enjoy some of today’s stars’ most impacting film stills.

This book is a rare treat and I would recommend it highly.

Retail price is $Aust 45.00 (including GST) and it’s available from major and specialty bookstores.
