By: Carmine Pascuzzi

The first trailer for cul_de_sac, an upcoming Australian TV pilot from acclaimed filmmaker Michael Joy (Men’s Group), has been released.

Men's Group, as you'll recall, was winner of best film, best script and best actor at the IF Awards in 2008. Joy's new project is no less grand. Akin to Twin Peaks, cul_de_sac is a mystery series set in a small mountains community with a dark past that is creeping steadily into the present. As the personal and political converge with burning local issues, truth and perspective fragment and history looks set to repeat. The series features, among others, acclaimed actor Shane Porteous (“A Country Practice”).

Michael Joy has worked extensively in Australia, Asia, Europe and North America, receiving numerous awards for Direction and Cinematography. Known for his diverse and evocative work, Michael draws from his cast risky and honest performances that connect powerfully with audiences. In 2006, he began developing his first feature film Men's Group in collaboration with Producer John L. Simpson.

The premiere of cul_de_sac will soon be held in Sydney for buyers and media.
