By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Film Victoria recently celebrated the amazing contribution that Simpson Le Mesurier has made to the Victorian film and television industry over the past 25 years at a special lunch.

Film Victoria joined with former Simpson Le Mesurier colleagues, cast and crew at the Regent Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne to acknowledge the contribution made by Roger Simpson and Roger Le Mesurier.

The President of Film Victoria, John Howie, said “The Rogers are true gentlemen of the industry. Their generosity to the people they have worked with is well known. They’ve been responsible for giving many in the industry their first break, acting as mentors and providing significant career opportunities. Film Victoria is delighted to host this special event and we wish both the Rogers the very best for the future.”

Award winning producers, Roger Simpson and Roger Le Mesurier have created more than 500 hours of some of Australia's finest and most memorable dramas since they formed Simpson Le Mesurier Films in 1980 including Halifax, f.p., Good Guys Bad Guys, Stingers and Something In The Air. The duo also produced a swag of mini-series – Nancy Wake, Darlings Of The Gods, Snowy and Sword of Honour – as well as two feature films Squizzy Taylor and The Nostradamus Kid.

The release of Answered By Fire earlier this year marked the end of an era for the Australian film and television industry.

Whilst Roger Le Mesurier has decided to retire, Roger Simpson will continue to contribute to the industry through his newly formed production company Lone Hand.
