By: Carmine Pascuzzi

The Australian trailer for the latest film from BAFTA award winning and OSCAR nominated Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) is now available. HALF OF A YELLOW SUN is based on best-selling book of the same name and from the producers of The Constant Gardner and The Last King of Scotland. The film also stars Thandie Newton (The Pursuit of Happyness) and Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency).

Half of a Yellow Sun interweaves the stories of four people struggling to survive during the fight to establish an independent republic in Nigeria. Olanna (Thandie Newton) and Kainene (Anika Noni Rose) are glamorous twins from a wealthy Nigerian family. Returning to a privileged city life in newly independent 1960s Nigeria after their expensive English education, the two women make very different choices. Olanna shocks her family by going to live with her lover, the “revolutionary professor” Odenigbo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Kainene is a fiercely successful businesswoman who falls in love with Richard (Joseph Mawle), an English writer. A sweeping romantic drama, the film follows the sisters and their lovers on their harrowing journey to survive the crippling civil war. It is a powerful story of family, loss and love that will touch everyone's heart.

The drama premiered at the Toronto Film Festival to three standing ovations and is the feature directing debut of celebrated Nigerian novelist and playwright Biyi Bandele
