:: Spotlight :: Movie Trailer - That's Not Me

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

THAT’S NOT ME is the debut feature from director Gregory Erdstein, co-written with lead actor Alice Foulcher. Married since 2013, the pair met at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) Film School in Melbourne, Australia. THAT’S NOT ME received its Australian premiere at the recent Sydney Film Festival and has been selected for the upcoming Melbourne and Brisbane International Film Festivals. Not unlike a modern day Muriel’s Wedding, THAT’S NOT ME takes influence from contemporary comedies such as Girls and Bridesmaids.

Alice Foulcher plays Polly who dreams of making it as an actor are comically shattered when her identical twin sister Amy lands a lead role in an HBO show, starts dating her co-star Jared Leto, and catapults to international stardom. Dropped by her agent, fired from her job and mistaken for her famous sister at every turn, Polly takes a spontaneous trip to LA only to find out she missed pilot season by several months.

Out of her depth and having blown all her savings, Polly returns to Melbourne with nothing left to lose, and finally decides to use her sister’s celebrity for her own advantage. Free clothes, free booze and casual sex… with funny and disastrous consequences for them both.

Raw and refreshing in its humour, THAT’S NOT ME is a feel-good comedy about the difference between failure and disappointment. We can’t all be Oscar winners. Not everyone will make it. But is that such a bad thing?

The soundtrack for THAT’S NOT ME features several celebrated Australian musicians, including Grammy award-nominee Courtney Barnett, Dick Diver, Twerps, and a throwback ‘80s synth score by composer Nicholas Pollock.

The film stars Alice Foulcher, Belinda Misevski and Isabel Lucas and will be released in Australian cinemas on September 7, 2017.
